Where's the sun!

As you can see by the picture it is still wet and miserable here in St. Ives, it has been all week. We have had some really heavy rain. Although as i sit here writing this the sun is coming out. They did say nice for the weekend. May Day here is on Monday this year and we always have a May Day procession through town and the picking of the May Queen and King, Maypole dancing, Samba band and street stalls . We shall be going and hopefully i will have some photos to show you next week. My camera hasn't been out much this week due to work , weather and certainly not much stitching to show you , although i have 2 little houses on the go and lots in mind for little hangings .I still haven't really got back to normal since the Easter hols, goodness knows what i shall be like after the summer break!!!! My mind just seems to be in a muddle all the time ! I think i need to try to do some meditation or something to clear my mind of a lot of rubbish and then perhaps i can actually get on with things . I have so much i want to do . My get up and go seems to have got up and gone!!! see you for the giveaway tomorrow! x x

Rain,rain,go away.....

Here are the last of the storm clouds over Porthmeor, after the rain flooded St.Ives again on Friday night/Saturday morning. Shops and houses were flooded, hotels were evacuated, tarmac on the roads was lifting up all over the place. Bit of a mess really.

So much for our £10 million flood defence scheme that they spent over two years doing and have just finished! There is quite a clear up going on down town today. We were alright because we live on a hill, but awful for the people in town.

Ah well, lets look forward to a summer like this!! ttfn x x

My 'time for tea' wallhanging!

all you have to do is leave a comment on this post and i shall pick a winner a week today, so thats the 1st May. x x

And home again!

I'm home. I do miss St.ives when ever i am away, so i try not to do it too often! We had a lovely time though, but i'm glad to be home , Sams back to school and i can get on with some sewing and stuff.

We stayed here on River Teign in Shaldon, it was nice. The highlight of the trip ( for Sam anyway) was Paignton Zoo! It was a whole days outing, and very interesting. Not too keen on the animals kept this way but on the otherhand people like us wouldn't get to see them close up if it wasn't for these places, and they all looked quite healthy and happy.

Great to be home, have i said that already! time to get on with some crafty stuff! see you soon x x

Sun's out again!

But not for long , i think rain again tomorrow. We nipped off out for a drive along the coast and stopped here at Hells Mouth. Its well known here for people taking their own lives over the cliff. It is pretty scary when you get up close! We went in to the little cafe too, well, it would be rude not to! We are off to Devon at the weekend for a few days. Sam really wants to visit Paignton zoo while we are there. Not done much sewing these past few days, this holiday seems to be endless! Going to see if i can get some done this afternoon! ttfn x x

Rain stops play!

Well i woke up this morning and it was raining . After all the lovely weather we have had the last few days it has rained all day today. No playing outside today then, so it was card games, wii games, making quicksand for dinosaurs! (one of Sams Birthday presents) very messy that one, but good fun! I took another photo of my crochet because the colours didn't show up very well in the last one. The little circles in the middle aren't very good but i'm hoping the more i do the better they will be!!

Hello, today has been quite busy and we still haven't painted those eggs i blew on Sunday. We did a bit of shopping this morning, posted off Lucy's house, started a new little 'pink house', made a lovely chocolate Easter cake which won't make it till Easter!

Followed by a quick trip to the beach for half an hour, then the park, then home for a cup of tea, then prepare the evening meal before i dash off out to work at 5 and hubby comes home from work at 5.15! I shall be home by 10 and jiggered i expect, but will just have to do a bit more to my 'little house' . I so like making them , ta ta for now x x

Little houses

I was looking at pics of all the things i have made, and alot of them are pictures with little houses on them . I like sewing little houses because i think they can be any style and any colour. These pictures have all got my little houses on them.

This one above is of St.Ives Harbour, it is one of my favourites and hangs above our bed. If you know St. Ives it is full of higgledy piggledy little houses and i just love em!

Here is another one of St.Ives.
So i thought i would like to have a go at making an actual' little house' well, not an actual one , but a small , stitched, cute little house! I'm not going to show you it just yet , but can you see a bit of it peeking out behind that fabric. As i was making it i thought of someone who also has a 'thing' for little houses, and she is someone who we all 'know' and she cheers us all up with her fantastic blog! I wonder do you know who i'm talking about yet? Well this house is for her as she has a bit of a collection going on. It is of course for Lucy over at attic 24, i hope she will accept it. This is the first of many' little houses' for me i think because i so enjoyed making it and the possibilities are endless. Iwill show you the house in full on Monday, just finishing the flowers round the door. Oh it even has an attic window!!!!

xxxx

Have a good weekend x x
