First Daffs of the year (not from the garden)

I've been very busy with my dolls, I'm pleased to say! I'm finding it increasingly difficult using the kitchen table as my workspace, there's just not enough room, I really need to spread out more and be able to leave stuff out not have to pack everything away every what seems like five minutes!

I have all my sewing bits and pieces in different parts of the house, some under the bed in boxes, some in the bottom of the spare wardrobe,some in a pine box in the hallway, I just want to have everything in one space. Its not going to happen anytime soon.

Pretty Maids all in a row!

I've given my dolls a collective name of 'li'l Maids'

Maids is a well used word down here in Cornwall!!

They all come with a vintage handmade tag with their name stamped on, and on their dresses is a Li'l maids tag.

I'm still making my little houses too!

I'm going to spend this evening updating my Folksy and Etsy shops. I want to make some scones too and a cake, the nicey tins are empty!!

Today was a lovely day here, these pictures were taken this afternoon whilst walking the dogs.

The sea in the distance that way.......

And Steeple Point in the distance that way. It was nice to be out today, it was cold but lovely blue sky and SUNSHINE!!!

I have been making some more Vintage style cloth dolls and I'm going to put them in my Etsy shop, or my Folksy shop, or both!

The dolls are made from tea stained calico to age them a bit, then they get their pretty dresses made from either new or recycled fabric, pantaloons, little felt shoes, bits of vintage lace and old mother of pearl buttons are added, jute string hair and finally paint their little faces.

Each doll has a name and has it stamped on to her very own vintage effect handmade tag, which is pinned to the back of her dress. This one above you can see is 'Maisie'.

Going to do a bit of re-organising in my online shops and try to promote them a bit more than I have been doing. Might give my blog a bit of a re style too, can't figure out why my header photo isn't central anymore!

Happy New Year!

Well, thats Christmas over again for another year, things were so busy here with one thing and another that I have neglected my blog again, ooh dear!

It was an ok kind of Christmas, quiet and unfussy!!

Had my usual visit to Mousehole lights on my Birthday, with a good old browse around the lovely crafty galleries there and Fish and Chips sitting on the beach!!
I apologise for the quality of the pics, had a new camera that day and hadn't quite got to grips with it!!

I love Mousehole, particularly at Christmas, the lights are lovely,the shops and galleries stay open late, theres a band playing, various buskers dotted around, hot chestnuts,mulled wine, mince pies, and I go every year on my Birthday, kind of a tradition now, oooh I love it!!!

I hope all of you had a lovely Christmas break and here's wishing you all a Very Happy New Year

This time last year....

Strange to think that this time last year we were snowed in!

Quite different this year as I haven't actually felt cold yet, but that might just be me!

Things here are up and down, mainly down at the moment , no work for me being the main issue : (

But on a lighter note I have been sewing, LOTS!!

Years ago I went through a phase of making dolls, vintage looking cloth dolls. So thought I'd make some more, you know, just to have a change!

Christmas House Giveaway

Here I am , bit later than I'd hoped! As you might know I'm having a giveaway, not for any particular reason, but just because I'd like to!

Its made from off white sparkly fabric with a snowy white roof, little white shutters on the windows, christmas wreath on the door, icy effect beaded edges and two vintage mother of pearl buttons, oh and a wire hanger on the top!

How Long???

Oh my goodness, has it really been that long since I last posted??!!
I don't know where the time has gone and can't believe it will be Christmas next month!
I have done alot of sewing , all the items in this post are recent ones, I sold the pink house that was on my last post and so I made a different one in red. I've made some more house keyrings, some more house hangies and two hangings, 'Funky Flowers' and 'House by the Tree'!
My latest piece is called 'Singing Hearts and Flowers', the words from a song by Aztec Camera from years ago, it was playing on the radio and I was singing along, as you do, and thought ooh imagine that, singing hearts and flowers, and so I did! Will show you soon.
I have been trying to keep up with all your blogs, but haven't been commenting as much as I would like, sorry!
I am back at it now though, things here aren't quite so manic here now!

I shall be busy up the field now , remembering around this time last year, gotta make sure I'm not going to get caught out with frozen water pipes and have to haul water from the river for the horses, I,m thinking snow again this year!

At the minute the ponies have more than enough water with all this rain we have been having here lately!

Wow, look at all the goodies I got in my Seaside swap parcel, I was sooooo, excited! Let me run you through it....... boat bunting, mermaid teacosy, seahorse suncatcher,little boat brooch,lighthouse tin which inside were fish earrings, shell heart, the cutest glass seagull, seashell chocs and a bag of those lovely little pink foamy shrimp sweeties. I was delighted. Typical of me I forgot to photograph the things I sent! der!! But you can check out Sue's blog to see her parcel of seaside goodies!

Before I go please meet Archie, my new baby!!!! He's a Water Dragon, he's so cool and alot greener than in the photo, I must try to take some better photos of him.

I want to live in the lighthouse!

Everytime I go here, and thats usually a weekly trip cos its not far, I sit and wonder how it would be to live there! I think I might like it , if only for the peace and quiet, theres room for the ponies too!! Just me, the animals, the computer and my sewing, heaven!!!!

If you look closely at the above picture you can see the seals on the beach!

I've been busy with the Mermaid quilt,but also did this one cos I like to have several projects on the go at the same time!

Here's my Mermaid being made into a hanging.

Her hair colour has changed!

I've painted her face, that was a scary moment as it was already stitched in place when I decided I would paint it, shes missing some eyelashes and pink cheeks but they will be added later.

When I learnt to Applique I was taught to do invisible stitching, which I did for years, but now I don't like to! I like my stitches to show, it adds a bit of decorative something,I think , AND I quite often use different colours, so there!!!!!!!Hahaha!

I am going to have lots of fun with this quilt as its going to be full of little fishes, shells and anything else I can think of!!!

A new Mermaid, only this one is going to be recreated in fabric and made into a hanging!

I'll keep you posted on that.

We went for a drive out this afternoon, out towards Lands End, I really fancied a cliff walk to clear my head, no sooner had we got through St. Just and the heavens opened and it lashed down, in fact , it was so hard at times it was difficult to drive!

We drove to Porthcurno up towards the Minnack, but still it rained. There was a brief interlude , so I quickly ran to the edge just to get a picture of the lovely beaches there. I'll go back when its nice and get some more pics for you!

Will keep you updated on the Mermaid hanging.

She has glittery hair!!
After reading Jessie's blog,which I love to visit ,I thought I might start an Art Journal. Now I haven't done much drawing or painting for a long time and I really enjoyed it! I need to get a better sized book cos this one is a bit big , but I was just having a play around. I do love mermaids and they'll probably feature alot in my new sketchbook, oh, and houses!! I'll let you know how it goes. Also, I'm taking part in a Seaside Swap hosted by Julie over at KC's Court, my swap partner is Sue from @home, please go check out her blog if you don't already. I'm really excited about this as its my first swap, will let you know how that goes too!!!

New House (no, I haven't moved)!!!!

Textile Art HouseI used alot of vintage bits and bobs, including the old key, which I found a bag of at the carboot sometime ago, I knew I could use them one day!!

And this textile Hanging, I used some of my homemade beads on this, and another old key!!

I have a bit of a thing for houses, don't you think?!

Ahh, now this is my first water lily flower , I put the plant in the pond 2 years ago. I was so excited to see the first bud and even more so when it flowered!!! I have newts that love to lie underneath the pads but I am not quick enough to catch them on camera!!

And finally I just love the colour of this Hydrangea, kind of a vintage pink!!

After much searching for something different to add to the piece I'm sewing at the moment,which is quite different to what I normally sew, I finally decided to have a go at making some Fabric Beads for myself.
I do so love the Textile Art Beads that Carolyn Saxby makes, I am lucky enough to have some. So , inspired by those, I made these,from scraps of fabric and bits and bobs.
Thing is, its very, very addictive and I'm hooked, I love making them!
So, there we are, the sewing has gone back in my box, while I continue to make Beads!!!

In the spring Half Term I had a great morning out with some bloggie friends, none of which I had met before, even though two of them live here in St. Ives!!!!!!!
Diane from Heartshaped was down on her usual camping holiday and I was delighted to meet her at last! Carolyn from Love Stitching Red and Lesley from Sea-Blue-Sky & Abstract also came. We met up in a St.Ives cafe and had tea and cakes and a good natter, it was great to meet them all, all such lovely ladies! Stupidly I left my camera at home so to see the pics have look at Diane's or Carolyn's blog (click on links above), you'll also see the gifts I gave them. I did however photograph the beautiful gifts they each gave to me........

From Diane, a lovely embellished heart, pretty handmade card and look at the lovely brooch she made!!

From Carolyn, some gorgeous handmade beads, a beautiful gardening heart(see the little trowel charm) and a handmade waxed card!

And from Lesley, these four lovely cards, prints from her fabulous artwork.

I'm going to frame them.

I love them, I love them all
What a blooming creative lot you are!

He is a Chihuahua/yorkie, he's very small!!

He has settled well and everyone loves him, including the cats!!

Sewing Box!!

Just wanted to show you my new posh sewing box!

Its not actually a sewing box but a champagne and truffles box, left behind in a hotel room after a wedding!! My daughter works there, found it, thought of me, checked with the boss she could take it and voila, a perfect sewing box!!

Its very sturdy and even has proper little hinges on the lid!

I was so excited, 'its just a box , mum' she said!!!

Noooo, its so much more than just a box my girl!!

'Gone to the beach' small hanging

'Mermaid in the Harbour' This piece has been ongoing for some time but I finally finished it and it has gone in my Folksy Shop.

This is the beginnings of a new piece which I am going to enter into a quilt competition in Coast Magazine , it has to be at least 40cmx60cm and coastal themed, so I shall give it a go!!!
Oh and its got to be done by July!!! Better get a wriggle on then!! xx

This Hanging was made for someone who's Father lives on the Isles of Scilly, Bryher looking over to Tresco!

And finally this one was made for someones little boy!!

I did promise a post of animals this time but haven't got all my pics together and not a very good one of the newest member, although he's not here yet!

So instead, a post of work I've been doing. I have to say I am quite pleased with my Seagull, known as Sid! Am making quite a few and have the makings of a small flock, I shall be putting them in my Folksy shop along with my houses, boats and hangings!!

April already, blimey, where does the time go! I have 3 family Birthdays this month, oh actually 4, because it was Harry's on the 1st April. You remember Harry, one of the Shetland Ponies! I shall have some photos of them in my next post. In fact the whole of my next post will be dedicated to all our four legged friends oh and the two winged friend, and news of a new one although not strictly mine, my daughters!!!

So, what have I been up to..............

New piece of work, 'Seagulls in St. Ives' and I am doing a commision for somebody, which is inspired by the Isles of scilly!!! These are my favourite things to sew, I love them, from the designing to the choosing of colours and the sewing. I've got sketchbooks full of designs that will probably take a lifetime to create, if there was just more hours in the day!!!

I have been making these too, little boat hangies!!!!

I'm not sure if I showed you these, my Little House Hangies!!

So things are pretty busy here for me at the moment.

Will be back later in the week with an Animal post and possibly the odd beach scene,cos it was on the News today that St. Ives has the best beaches in the UK !!!

But then we knew that anyway!!!!

It's such a beautiful day today!

The last few days we have had a whole lot of coastal mist/fog, couldn't see a thing!

But not today, so me and my dawg went off down the beach!!

Was great, we had a quick wander around town and then back home for a cup of tea and a bacon buttie!!
Now ain't that the way to start the day!!

Hello!!

Ooh, its been a while since I posted hasn't it?!

Its been a bit chaotic here of late with one thing and another. We have had some nice weather though recently which has been nice after that very long and cold winter, i think Spring has sprung!!

I have still found a bit of time to sew!

I have sold quite a few of my Little Houses and my hangings, I seem to be doing better selling my things since I joined Facebook. There is alot of people from blogland over there too and a whole lot more besides, so much Craftiness.

This hanging below is a miniture measuring 7"x5".

First day of Spring?

Was it the first day of spring yesterday? This photo above was taken on Monday, I think that was the first day of Spring, it was a beautiful day, and now its a bit overcast and really quite cold!

Yesterday we went to Godrevy to remember my Mum, not that we ever forget her, but it was three years since she passed away, this was her very favourite place to be, one of mine too.

I,ve been busy with my Little Houses, this is the latest Cherry Cottage!!!
The first Fairytale Cottage has gone off to Vienna

Haha, not your average bird mind you. Being half term there was a Falconry afternoon up at Tregenna Castle!

We had a great time , especially Sam , he particularly liked the Hawk in the top picture and of course the Owl who was the same type as Bo.

There was a African Kestral, Falcon, Owl and the Hawk, all beautiful.
We were allowed to handle all of the birds, it was lovely to see them fly, although the seagulls weren't very impressed!!!

A little hint of spring!

Been very busy making these. Someone saw the Crooked House hanging i showed a couple of posts ago and wanted me to make them an actual Crooked House , if you know what i mean!!!

Here it is , i think i'd like to live there!!

Some more Fishermans Cottages and a rather pretty Pink Heart House.

I am in the middle of a Fairytale Cottage will show you that when its done, its taking a while, lots of flowers in window boxes and even shutters at the windows. I might like to live there too!!

I'm looking forward to Spring and i've noticed the evenings a bit lighter longer, so its on its way!! Off to visit your blogs now, been a bit slack but i have been busy! xxxx

Its been a lovely day here in St. Ives again, sunshine and blue sky. Went on a long walk with my Dad and Jodie the dog, wore them both out i think!

This is another finished piece of a little girl flying her kite on the beach, with what seems to have become my signature seagull at the top there!!!

Beachhuts.

This is a piece i have just finished, i've added one of my 'special' seagulls, they seem to pop up on most of my work, but then living in St. Ives they seem to pop up everywhere full stop!!!!

As my work mostly features sun, sea and sand i'm not too bothered that its raining again outside!!!!

Excuse the rather wonky angle of this picture, i just wanted to show you i painted my dresser. I forgot though to take a before picture hahaha! It was a very dark varnished pine and i didn't like it very much, anyway i love it now in cream with new knobs.

A New Year

Fresh Flowers

A new Hanging, 'The Crooked House'.

Theres still loads of these left , I don't really like chocolate but they do look pretty in all their colourful wrappers!

This driftwood Heart i bought in Mousehole on my Birthday and when my new bed arrives it shall hang on there but for now it hangs in the kitchen on the mirror.

Lots of changes in store for this year i think, we need to think about alternative arrangements for my Dad. I don't know if i told you last year he had a stroke and although he is still up and about he needs to have people around most of the time. He lives about ten miles from us and its just a bit too far to be able to pop in often enough , so we are thinking about moving him nearer or even moving him in with us. Its all a bit up in the air at the minute, lots to think about.

I've just started back sewing again, i do love to sew and have missed it over the holiday. As you may know i have a bit of a thing for houses and my Crooked House was an idea i had over Christmas and was dying to get on with it. I also want to do a bit more crochet, but it scares me slightly!!!! Will give it a go. Got lots of ideas for hangings and alot of houses involved! Will keep you posted! xxxxx

Early Christmas

Look what i got through the post the other day!

I thought Christmas had come early.

Lots of lovely treats from the wonderful Diane over at Heartshaped.

In my parcel was Hendersons Relish Yorkshire sauce, Yorkshire Crisps, Rhubarb and custard sweeties, Heartshaped Chocolates, and two gorgeous little owls to go on my Christmas tree, although they will be out all year round cos they're too cute!

I now have three lovely little owls on my tree and i expect a few more to find there way there too!

I think Bo will be very pleased!

Oh Christmas Tree......

Well, my trees up!

I couldn't wait any longer.

Two of my Cornish Fairies made it on!

And after a trip to the garden centre this little fellow came home with us.

Thought he looked a bit like Bo !

All the snow has gone now thanks to the rain, its dry today but very cold again.

Snow for St. Ives too!

This morning, we had a sprinkling of snow at 7 am and then at 8 o clock it started to snow, proper big snowflake snow and it snowed and it snowed!!

We couldn't get the car out so Ami and i walked up to the field to see to the horses, and still it snowed!

The water horses water and pipe was frozen so we had to collect them water from the river, with a wheelbarrow and water butts, over the wall, down the bank fill them up and get them across the field in the wheelbarrow!! We laughed saying it was like our own bush tucker trial!!

And still it snowed.

We got them cosy in the barn with a feed and plenty of hay, then headed for home.

Phone call at 11 o clock, school closing please pick your children up!

It stopped snowing about half twelve i think, but we are forecast more.

I haven't seen so much snow in St. Ives for a long time. Apparently right down in the town it was raining and we had thunder and lightning,weird!!

Ah well its nice to look at. I've been busy making soup and chicken curry, that should warm them all up!!!

Meet Candy!

A lovely 14.3hh coloured cob.

Along with about 9 others she needed a home after her owner sadly died .

Thankfully we only took the one!

She,s rather lovely, we've had her a week now. She has only one eye due to an infection caused by hawthorn and had to have it removed, but she has adapted well and nothing bothers her.

The two boys love her!!

Will try to get some clearer pictures when the weather picks up, but here she is in her new 'pink' rug!!

Lots of Fairy making going on here for the Craft Market at Tregenna Castle at the weekend.

Been busy making more Fairy's for a Christmas Fair at the end of the month, they are all going to have tags with their names on!

Just got to think of the names, some get their names as i make them, you know, they just come to me. Going to make some more mini textile pieces too

Fairy's or Angels?

I'm not sure which yet!

They have wings, wire arms and bead dangly legs, wild hair and the cutest little dresses!

hmm, Fairy's or Angels............ maybe Cornish Fairy's, that was my first idea and that is what Diane got, maybe i'll stick to that. I have some Christmas ones too but i was lucky to get any pics up at all, so will show you those again!

Now, i was in two minds whether to show you our new friend, i don't want you all up in arms about keeping a bird like this in captivity, but he has come to us from a friend who,s son has had him since he hatched and so he has been bred in captivity. Friends son has gone to Uni and wanted someone to have him who will look after him. My husband has a thing for owls and has had big birds before. We have had him for a week now and as soon as he is settled in and got used to us he will be flown regularly up in the field, first on a creance(line), so he shall have plenty of exercise. He lives in a large aviary in the garden, hes quite friendly and is very chatty, his name is Bo (short for Bilbo) He is very beautiful with the most gorgeous orange eyes, oh he is a Bengal Eagle Owl. He talks to you as soon as you go outside, its a wooooooooo rather than a twitawoooo .

Sunday was a beautiful day, so we spent the afternoon on Porthmeor Beach, it was quite lovely!

Not many people around , just a few here and there, lots of goings on in the sea, little boats, kyacks and swimmers. It was a lovely and sunny and nice to just sit and watch!

I have changed the name of my Folksy shop and added new items, its now 'handmade by Noelle' just click on the Find me on Folksy badge over in my side bar on the left! And i nearly have my new facebook page up and running, will let you know about that. And sometime soon i shall be having a giveaway to get my shop going, i have been making some 'little' textile pieces, like my bigger ones but smaller, obviously!! One of those shall be up for grabs shortly. And i have a little bird series of pieces on the go!! Phew, its all going on over ere ya know!!!

Sam and I went off to Penzance today to do a bit of shopping, and on the way stopped here at the old Engine House at Trink. I love this old ruin and have loads of pictures of it but still had to take some more!

Its been a lovely day here today, but with a bit of a nip in the air I think.

On our way back from Penzance we grabbed a certain fast food takeout and went and sat by the sea here at Longrock!

We had a nice walk along the Beach, before heading home.

It was a lovely day here in St. Ives today, they said we were to have rain!!!

Not sure whether i showed you this brooch, but anyway this is a rather colourful one. Each of my brooches are embroidered with differant colored threads and fibres and then beads added, all by hand. I have alot of gift boxes that i found amongst my crafty stuff, but are a bit small for some of the brooches. What i really want to do is pin the brooches on to card labels printed with my name , you know , handmade by noelle or something, i suppose i shall have to make them myself but not sure where to start, so any ideas greatly appreciated .

Also i have been doing some of my fabric pictures one of which is for my niece's baby who arrived last week, but i shall show you that when i have given it to him!!

It was nice to get back into some sort of routine this week, although i was enjoying the lazy mornings of the summer holiday. Now i'm looking forward to the Autumn, my favourite time of year.

Well, its been nearly a month since my last post! How the time flies. Can't believe Sam is back to school Monday! I have made up some mosaics as you can see from photos from the summer, we mainly stayed home for the holidays, with lots of trips out and not always with my camera!! oops.

Have found time to make more brooches.

Will be back on track come Monday, will be glad to get back into a routine.

Nice to see September, one of my favourite months. Husbands Birthday yesterday and Daughters birthday today, we've been out for a lovely meal!!

Gone to the beach!

Although it was very dull yesterday and drizzly rain, we went to the beach over at Gwithian.
I wanted to look for seaglass and pebbles and Sam wanted to play on the rocks as you can see in the bottom photo!

It was really windy over there and the sand was blowing and stinging our legs!

It looks quite deserted in the pictures but there was quite a few brave swimmers and surfers.

See how dark those clouds are!!

We Went to St. Ives....

I know you know i live here anyway, but in the summer we dont venture down into town very much, too crowded.
But today Sam and i thought we would quite like to go down and have a look round and he could play on the harbour beach with friends and visit the arcade and so on!

It was very busy!

Although i managed to take this without another soul in the picture, but trust me it was busy!!

I paddled for a bit then went to the bead shop and a quick look round the old drill hall which has been done up and now has little shop units to let, its looking good still some more units to let there is a cafe , a clothes shop and a lifestyle boutique.

Dragon update and some new stuff....

A few of you asked for some more baby dragon pictures so here they are, 3 weeks old now and very entertaining to watch!
They like the kitchen roll tubes to play on!

Moving on to some new Brooches i have got for sale over at my Folksy shop, these are the little boxes they come in.

I was in a dilema as to what to charge for them, i worked out they take about 4 hours to make plus the materials and so decided i couldn't charge less than £20 for them. I find it very difficult pricing my own stuff.

These two houses have been made for a lovely lady in Austria who has already bought two others!

I hope you are all enjoying the summer, although not sure about the weather. its been quite nice but we keep getting this fine misty rainy stuff!! Complicated weather pattern they said!!!

New Brooch and flowers, lots of flowers!

This brooch has a beach theme, i used colours of the sea and sand and added a little dolphin charm!

Some type of Geranium, very small flower and leaf, from a cutting from my Dad!

A David Austen Rose, a rambler Alberic Barbier, its says fragrant but i cant smell a thing!
I was a bit dissapointed really.

And one of my faves is this Passionflower, which trails all across my pergola at the front of the house.

Babies!!!!

Look, they started hatching last night, when we went to bed there was three out!
Six hatched this morning another six to go !!

They are just so small and cute and rather funny to watch once they get going, after all the effort of fighting their way out of the egg they spend about an hour just lying there exhausted, we thought the first one was dead, then suddenly he just started running around!!!

More pictures to follow i expect.

As promised , my fresh cream and strawberry sponge and my bread but forgot to photograph the soup, Brocolli and Stilton, hmmm it was delish!!

Those are or were sunflower seeds on the top but we kept picking them off!!!

Later i have some flower photos to show and some more brooches, i've been very busy. And i have two houses to make for a lady in Venice who bought two and now wants some more!! Its all go ere you know! Right, back up to the nursery to check the babies x x x

Dog walking and Brooch making!

This is Jodie, my happy smiley dog! Not mentioned her much on my blog but she is a big part of my life really. We got her about 5 years ago from the local Dog Rescue Centre, we think she is about 9 years old and shes just the most lovely little dog, bit of a heinz 57 really but i think with a bit of collie! Shes here on her favourite walk up Rosewall hill, she also comes up to the horses with us, and they take great delight in chasing her!

Found something in there!

We walk to the top and sit and take in the view, but she doesnt let you rest for long!!

Made a few new Beaded Brooches this week......

I love making these and last year sold a load before Christmas. I have little card boxes to put them in, will have to get some up for sale i think!

We had one day of rain, non stop all day! But we needed it the garden and field were very dry.

Its beautiful again now. See the pretty boats in the harbour the other day. Thought i would show you some of my little boats i have been very busy stitching new pictures i have a few finished ready to be put in their frames.

Mazey Day

Today we went to Mazey Day in Penzance, the last day of the eight days which is the Golowan Festival. The weather was brilliant as was the parade, the street entertainment, the music and the stalls lining the streets! It was soooo busy, we arrived at 9.15 to be sure of a parking space!! I'll just show you a few pics of the parade!

This is the latest, Rosie she 's only a couple of months old, she belonged to our nephew but he said she was quite nasty and kept going for him, well she has been fine since we had her, she even lets Sam hold her .

And check this out, we have eggs, 14 of them laid 2 weeks ago and now in the incubator for between 70 and 100 days till they hatch! How eggciting!!

These are Daisy and George's eggs, Daisy belongs to my daughter.

Will keep you updated, can't wait to see the babies!

It was another lovely day today, quite breezy mind. I have a camera yippee, i feel a bit lost without one although i quite often forget to take it out with me!! On our way through Hayle today we stopped off at the beach to watch the Kiters, or whatever they're called! The tide was out so there was a mass expanse of beach, it did look lovely.

You can see St. Ives in the distance!

You can just about see the kites,yes? I need to work on my zoom i think, but i just wanted you to see just how huge the beach looks!!!

Just a quick post to say sorry i haven't been around much, Dad had a stroke 2 weeks ago and i have been up and down to the hospital and up and down to his house to look after the cats! There is only me to look after things, one brother doesn't drive and the other lives in London. Anyway Dads doing ok and hoping to come home on Thursday, he will need carers in for a while but other than that i think he will be ok. I will still be up and down to his house but hopefully back to some sewing and blogging pretty soon. Catch up soon! x x x x

Above is Ruby on the left and Rosie, now i say Rosie but we're not 100% sure she is a girl!!! Sorry about the picture quality, here they are below in their tank, they are the best of friends and very cute! They are only a few months old so are quite small compared to George and Jack.

We shall be breeding them, my daughter has an older female, Daisy, so she will be mother to either Jacks or Georges babies. They lay several clutches of eggs from just one mating and anything up to twenty eggs per clutch!! We could be overrun shortly. Bearded Dragons are becoming very popular as pets, they all have their own little characters and are easily tamed. I didn't think i would like them when the first one arrived , that was George, but actually i really do and i think he is my favourite!!! I hope you are all having a good weekend x x

Well, today found me doing a rather, rushed ,last minute stall up at Tregenna Castle at the Vintage car rally!

I was asked last minute and it turned out there was only me and one other lady , she was selling jewelry! The lady organising it thinks next year she will try a bit harder to find some more crafters.

I hadnt set my stall up when this was taken, we had just arrived and started to unpack. I couldn't take anymore cos my batteries failed me .

I sold several little boats and houses.

Well we have had some lovely weather, but wherever i went i forgot my camera, duh!!! Frilly Tulips!

Victoria arrived this week along with some other statues from a friend of Chris's, he didnt want them anymore, thought we would.I only liked this one!!!! We seem to get a lot of stuff from 'deals' Chris does, he's very handy and can often be found fixing strimmers, lawnmowers, bikes and allsorts for people and so he gets alot of stuff just given to him!! Anyway a few of you have asked about George the dragon, well i shall have some pics for you and not just of George but Ruby, Jack, Rosie oh and Alex!!!! AHHHH, i hear you cry! Its only George. He is a recent addition to our household, he is a bearded dragon, oh i know what your thinking, but actually he is rather lovely, not in a cuddly kind of way but he is rather a character . And he has a friend, Ruby! Now Ruby is only 6 weeks old and i have yet to take her photo but she is sooo cute!!! They actually belong to Hubby and Sam , but i have become quite fond of them both!!!!!! They like to come out of their tank quite often and like to sit with you or on you and actually George makes quite a nice, if rather large brooch!!! Anyway hope you all have a lovely weekend x x x x

This is my new piece, just finished, Lighthouse and Boats.

I have been trying to decide for a while now whether or not to frame them . Usually i attach rods to the back so that they can be hung that way, but i thought putting them in a frame would set them off better, so after much deliberation and advice from various people(thanks Jane) i have decided to frame them. Just a plain white frame, because they are fabric and quilted i think they need to be touched so no glass!

I think it looks good ,yes?

I have some of my wallhangings in an exhibition at the local library! How exciting!
My friend and i decided last year we would be very brave and have our work on display. Anne paints acrylics on canvas ( which unfortunately i dont have any pics of at the minute).

I put five of my pieces up and i have sold three already!!!!

The exhibition is on until the end of March.

These are my new boats for my shop, they are filled with dried lentils so they could be used as paperweights, i plan on making alot more in lots of colours, they look rather jolly just sat on a shelf.

I have often thought i would like to keep a journal, but have never really got round to it. Well i've taken a step in the right direction and bought myself a beautiful journal from here. Not sure where to start really, its sitting on the table and i'm thinking about it!!!!

I made this today, hmm think i might make some for my shop!

This house doesn't have a name, i have decided to leave some un-named so that who ever buys it can tell me what they want to call it and i will embroider it on before i send it. This one is a bit taller than the others and it is available to buy for £17.00 plus p+p from my Folksy shop.

Godrevy

I so love Godrevy, i think its the lighthouse i like so much. Oh and the seals, yes i do love the seals. They spend much of the day basking on the beach in a little cove just round from the lighthouse. Nobody can get down to them which is a good thing, but you can stand right above them and watch them sleeping and moving around sometimes playing. They look like a load of dead slugs! I didn't count them today but last time i counted over 70!!

It was another spring like day today, as you can see from the photos so this is where i went, its one of my favourite places.

I love that lighthouse, i want to go there, sometimes when life gets too much i think i could live there, just me on my own, but in reality i don't think i could stand it for more than about a week, and then theres the small issue that i don't do boats very well!! They could always drop me off in the helicopter i suppose! Perhaps i will just continue to visit and admire it from afar!!!

Sunday walk

We were expecting a wet day indoors, doing indoor activities today. They said we were going to have a storm, heavy rain and gale force winds! But we woke to an almost spring like day, i think the storm must have just missed us! So we made the most of it and went for a walk, well Sam and i did everyone else was working.

We walked through the grounds of Tregenna Castle, through the woods and found this handsome chap, my other half works at Tregenna and he told me that years ago they had to chop this tree down and they invited a real Indian over to carve what was left, isn't he great! You can't see in the photo but he has real feathers sticking out of his head!

Further down the stream, there were loads of snowdrops.

We were looking for the waterfall which looks lovely with tree ferns either side but when we got there my camera ran out of battery! And that was what i was going to show you so i shall have to go back again.
Can you see the sea in the distance. It was worth going just to see the Indian carving, i really like that, i'd like one in my garden actually!!

Time flies

I am still here,very busy ,but here! With the half term and friends down to stay i haven't had chance to do much of my own stuff. But now peace reigns again, had a good clear up yesterday and took a few pics of things i like around at the moment. The Hyacinths of course smell wonderful, and this heart, my friend bought for me, you put a tealight in and i rather like it!

And what the heck is this ,i hear you cry, well i thought of Diane cos i failed to take a picture of a beautiful heartshaped cloud for her, so whilst making a cottage pie this afternoon i came across this heartshaped potato.........

Just wanted to show you some of the books i have bought lately, the creative dreams one i was tempted to after reading about it on Julia's blog. I haven't read it yet. I love the Thrifty chic book, i know lots of you have that one. Lots of reading for me then but mustn't let it get in the way of the sewing!! ttfn x x x
